The Quiet Power of Trust in BDSM

When we first opened the doors to Tether and Tease almost twenty months ago,

I wasn't quite sure what to expect.

Like anyone welcoming strangers into their own carefully created space, there was a little uncertainty. Would guests respect the house? Would they understand what we had built? Would they treat it with the same care and appreciation that went into creating it?

Today, looking back, one thought keeps returning to me.

Almost every guest we've welcomed has been exceptionally kind,

respectful and considerate.

Of course, every individual is different, but the consistency has surprised me.

Many arrive as strangers and leave behind not only a spotless space, but often a heartfelt thank-you message, a thoughtful review or simply the feeling that they genuinely valued the experience.

It made me wonder why.

Perhaps the answer lies in one simple word: trust.

Trust is the cornerstone of healthy BDSM. Long before a scene begins, there are conversations, boundaries, consent, expectations and aftercare. People learn to communicate openly, to listen carefully and to respect limits. In many ways, those skills extend far beyond the play itself.

When someone books a place like Tether and Tease, another layer of trust is added.

Our guests trust us to provide discretion, privacy, cleanliness and a space where they can simply be themselves without judgement.

In return, we trust them with something equally valuable—our property, our furniture, our artwork, and the intimate atmosphere we've poured our hearts into creating.

It's a beautiful exchange.

Trust cannot be demanded. It is offered.

Perhaps that's why I've come to believe that trust has a remarkable way of attracting

trust in return.

Whether our guests are experienced in BDSM, simply curious, or couples looking to reconnect, the common thread is rarely what happens inside the playroom. More often, it's the respect they show one another—and the respect they show us.

Running Tether and Tease has reminded me that behind the leather, the steel and the aesthetics are simply people.

People seeking connection.

People choosing vulnerability.

People treating one another with kindness.

And for that, we are deeply grateful.
